TORONTO - Ryerson Rams men's soccer defender/midfielder Antony Curic (Mississauga, Ont) has signed with USL League One side Toronto FC II.
This is Curic's first professional contract and will run until December of 2022.
"It feels amazing," says Curic on his signing. "It's something my family and I have been working towards my whole life and to finally get the opportunity just makes it feel like all the hard work has paid off," he continued.
Curic spent one active season with the Rams in 2019-20, starting 12 games in an impressive rookie campaign. Mostly playing in the center-back position alongside veteran Alex Meczarski (Richmond Hill, Ont), Curic displayed a strong technical ability along with outstanding composure at just 18 years old.
"Ryerson and the men's soccer team have definitely helped me grow and mature as a person and a player," says Curic. "Coach Fil and Kasy definitely have improved me as a player and I'm very grateful for everything they have done for me."
Prior to his Rams career, the St Francis Xavier S.S. graduate spent four seasons with Erin Mills Soccer Club, winning two Ontario Cup championships during his time at the club. Curic was also offered a one week trial with the French Ligue 2 club, FC Lorient, shortly before joining the Rams.
Curic's transition from Ryerson to Toronto FC II is not a first for the Rams men's soccer program, who saw fellow Mississauga native Robert Boskovic sign with the club after the 2017-18 OUA season.
When looking towards the next steps in his soccer journey, Curic expressed, "I'm just looking forward to keeping on improving as a player and continue to put in the hard work to hopefully succeed as a player and be prepared for any new challenges that my career could bring me."
The Rams wish Curic the best of luck moving forward on and off the pitch.
