Rams look to revive winning ways against Toronto
TORONTO — After suffering back-to-back losses last weekend for just the second time this season, the No. 5 Ryerson Rams will look to revive their winning streak in their first game of February as they face the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday night.
Only five games remain in the OUA’s regular season, and the Rams currently find themselves sitting third in the league with a 14-4 record on the year. After suffering two straight losses to the Carleton Ravens and the Ottawa Gee-Gees last weekend, the Rams would fall behind both teams in the standings and four points back of the first place spot in the division.
Despite last weekend’s heartbreaking losses, the Rams still rank fifth in the country. The team will look to continue their dominant run through the remainder of the season, fixing mistakes and working out kinks in their play before the playoffs begin midway through the month.
The Rams will be provided with an opportunity to redeem themselves this weekend against their cross-town rivals, the Toronto Varsity Blues. These two teams haven’t met since the season opener back in October where Ryerson topped Toronto 67-37 in front of a packed crowd at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
This time, the Rams will head west to Toronto’s Goldring Centre in hopes of another dominant victory. The Varsity Blues have a 4-14 record on the year, sitting just four points back of the final OUA East playoff spot. As the regular season comes to a close, Toronto will be fighting for their postseason lives. The Rams, on the other hand, will need to stick to the game plan and play a full 40-minute game if they hope to come out with a win.
Friday’s game against Toronto is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Goldring Centre. Tune into OUA.tv at tip-off to catch all the action.
