Rams hoopsters look for strong finish to 2018
TORONTO - It has been a near perfect semester of basketball for the Ryerson Rams men’s basketball team, sporting a 9-0 record and having dominated most teams they have played so far.
Ryerson will be looking to continue the dominate run in their final game of the season against the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
Lakehead has struggled this season, with just two wins in their opening eight games of the season. They have shown the ability to score the ball against some of the weaker teams in the league but scored a combined 98 points in a weekend against Carleton and Ottawa.
With the defensive ability that Ryerson has shown it is safe to assume that Lakehead might struggle to muster up much offence against the amazing depth and length that the Rams have to offer.
Coming into the game Ryerson leads the league with 5.9 blocked shots per game – Lakehead sits fourth with 4.9 blocks per game. Ryerson has been powered by the 2.9 blocks per game from Tanor Ngom; look for him to try to add to his total in this final game of the semester.
That depth and length has also been on full display on the other side of the court for Ryerson. Their 92.1 point per game and 37.3 three-point percentage are good for second in the province.
Ryerson’s depth shows when you look at the numbers - they are the only team in the OUA with five players averaging at least 10.2 points per game.
Leading the team in points this year is JV Mukama. His 20.6 PPG is good for sixth in the league but he’s done so on 56.1 per cent shooting which is the best percentage for any player inside the top 15.
The game tips off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30. Follow us on Twitter for all of the updates and watch live on OUA.tv
