Unbeaten Rams host Windsor, Western this weekend
TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams men’s basketball team is back at home this weekend, coming into the games with a 7-0 record.
Ryerson comes into the game off the heels of their win over the Brock Badgers. It wasn’t a typical showing for the Rams offence in their game against Brock but the defence kept the Badgers close and in the fourth quarter, when it mattered most, Ryerson made the shots they had to make.
The win over Brock capped off a big weekend for the Rams as they also knocked off the McMaster Marauders sending a message to the rest of the OUA that they are up for the challenge of the top teams in the league.
Ryerson will get this week started Friday night when they host the Windsor Lancers. Windsor opened the season 2-2 but have since lost three straight games. In those three games Windsor has struggled to score the ball averaging just 54 points per game over that stretch.
With Ryerson’s ability to shut down a team on offence this sets up to be a favourable matchup for the Rams.
On Saturday, the Western Mustangs will be in town bringing their 4-3 record with them. The four wins for the Mustangs can be misleading; three of their wins have come against teams under .500 and in their three losses – all against teams over .500 - they have lost by an average of 25.3 points.
With Ryerson’s high-powered offence and their depth expect them to give Western fits on both ends of the court. If Ryerson plays to their ability they should find themselves on the right side of a double digit win once again.
Both games will be played at the Mattamy Athletic Centre with the games starting at 8:00 p.m. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram for all of the live updates.
