Rams volleyball to open 2018-19 season at home against Brock
TORONTO - The 2018-19 OUA volleyball schedules have officially been released, and the Ryerson Rams men’s and women’s volleyball teams are set to open their seasons at home against the Brock Badgers on October 24, 2018.
Both Rams’ teams will look to build on their successes from last season, whether that be regular season dominance or postseason supremacy. After losing out on the OUA bronze medal in 2017-18, the Ryerson men’s team will look to redeem themselves with a strong and consistent showing this year, competing with the hopes of earning a provincial medal for the first time since 2015.
On the women’s side, the Rams will look to defend their provincial and national banners while extending their undefeated streak into the new season. A 25-0 record in 2017-18 sent shockwaves through the country, and the team will hope to continue their unmatched success heading into the new season.
Provincial goals aside, both Rams teams will be hoping to qualify for the 2019 U SPORTS National Championships, taking place in Laval (men’s) and Alberta (women’s) from March 15-17, 2019.

2018 | Ryerson Rams vs. Brock Badgers, Home/Season Opener
The 2019 season opener marks the beginning of the Rams’ journey (back) to the national championship. The matchup against Brock has been a toss up on the men’s side, as the Rams are 1-1 all-time against the Badgers. The women, on the other hand, haven’t lost to Brock since 2011. The Badgers will travel to the Mattamy Athletic Centre for the first time since the 2016-17 season, and the Rams will do their part to ensure an entertaining matchup.
The double banner raising ceremony makes this exciting night even more special, as the 2018 Quigley Cup and U SPORTS National Championship banners will find their permanent home on the walls of the Coca-Cola Court.

2019 | Ryerson Rams vs. Nipissing Lakers, Winter Homecoming (WOCO)
Rams fans will be in for a treat on January 19, 2019, as all six of Ryerson’s winter varsity teams will be playing on home court/ice at the Mattamy Athletic Centre! Ryerson’s second-annual Winter Homecoming features five of our six teams facing the Nipissing Lakers in a day packed full of action at the MAC.
Nipissing surprised last year on the women’s side, taking one rare set win over Ryerson in each of their two matchups. The men’s teams were more unpredictable, as the Rams and the Lakers split the season series with one win apiece.
The matinée matchups will begin at 12:00 pm for the women’s game, with the men’s game to follow at 2:00 pm.

2019 | Ryerson Rams vs. Toronto Varsity Blues, Battle for the 6ix
The collision of these two cross-town rivals has always made for a memorable matchup. The women’s teams have been battling for the number one spot atop the OUA’s East division for the last five years, but Toronto’s commanding success saw the Varsity Blues top the Rams on most occasions. The Rams snapped Toronto’s 38-game regular season winning streak with a win over the Varsity Blues in October 2017, and the Rams have flipped the switch to dominate last year’s chapter of the rivalry.
On the men’s side of things, a level playing field has made for an unpredictable matchup between the two local teams. The Varsity Blues missed the playoffs last season with a 7-11 record but always seemed to bring their best game against the Rams.
The women’s game is set to begin at 6:00 pm, with the men’s following at 8:00 pm.
Sunday, February 24,
2019 | Ryerson Rams vs. McMaster Marauders, Clash of the Titans
To close out their regular season campaigns, the Rams will take on the McMaster Marauders on February 24, 2019. The Marauders have seen much success in the OUA in recent years, building two solid volleyball programs from the ground up. McMaster’s women’s team only lost on three occasions last season, with their most crucial defeat coming at the hands of the Rams in the OUA Quigley Cup Final.
The Marauder’s men’s team, on the other hand, have won six consecutive OUA banners while medaling at the last six U SPORTS National Championships. The defending provincial champions will look to defend their title and solidify their dynasty with another dominant season, and it will be up to the Rams to steal a victory from McMaster to close out the regular season
*All games listed above will be played on the Mattamy Athletic Centre’s Coca-Cola Court unless otherwise stated.
