Wong and Dupuis named Athletes of the Week
Salad King Athletes of the Week
The first Athlete of the Week is Taylor Dupuis (New Liskeard, Ont.) of the men's hockey team. The fourth year goaltender had back-to-back strong performances as the Rams swept their best-of-three opening round playoff series against the Toronto Varsity Blues. In game one of the series on Thursday, Dupuis stopped 33 of 35 Toronto shots as the Rams defeated the Blues 3-2 in overtime. On Saturday night, Dupuis stopped 38 of 41 shots faced and made a number of key saves at the end of the game when the Blues had a two-man advantage as the Rams took game two 4-3.
Lauren Wong (Scarborough, Ont.) is our second Athlete of the Week. The first year setter recorded 38 assists in the Rams only game of the week, a 3-1 win over Lakehead, which helped her establish a new single-season record at Ryerson. Wong now has 658 assists on the season, surpassing the previous Ryerson record of 629 for most in a season. She also leads the OUA with 9.82 assists per set with one game remaining on the schedule.
Both student-athletes will receive a $20 gift certificate to Salad King.
