Men's basketball announces Ndiaye as first recruit of 2019-20
TORONTO — Ryerson’s men’s basketball team is proud to announce their first recruit of the 2019-20 season in Quebec’s Mouhamed L. Alga Ndiaye.
Ndiaye, a six-foot-six guard from Longueuil, QC., joins the Rams after spending the last four years at the elite Thetford Academy in Thetford Mines.
“We are very excited to welcome Mouhamed to our family,” says Rams head coach Borko Popic. “He is coming from a program at Thetford Academy with a strong tradition of team success and player development.”
Ndiaye was named Thetford’s Most Valuable Player in 2017 after averaging 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game during the regular season.
A well-disciplined athlete, Ndiaye self-describes as a “long guard, who can shoot it, run the floor and defend.”
Prior to his time at Thetford Academy, Ndiaye attended École Secondaire Jaques-Rousseau from 2010 to 2015. He was named most improved player twice in his final two years at the school.
Ndiaye will enter the Arts and Contemporary Studies program in September 2019. He says he is excited to attend Ryerson because of the wide variety of opportunities put forth by both the university and the men’s basketball program.
“The diversity on campus, and the variety of opportunities that are offered academically and athletically,” says Ndiaye on why he chose Ryerson. “Basketball-wise, Ryerson has a great winning culture and staff.”
“Mouhamed brings a unique blend of size and skill at the guard position on both ends of the floor,” adds Popic. “He is a dedicated young man on and off the court, and we look forward to his time and future success with the Ryerson Rams.”
Ndiaye is the first commitment of the program’s 2019-20 recruiting class. Stay updated on Rams recruitment announcements by following us on Twitter or checking back to our website, ryersonrams.ca.
