Rams take home two OUA CHAMP awards
KINGSTON — The Ryerson Rams took home the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) C.H.A.M.P. awards for Best Webcast Production and Best Feature award on Wednesday night during the OUA Honour Awards ceremony in Kingston.
The #JourneyTo…. Road to Nationals series followed the Ryerson Rams women’s basketball team as they prepared to host the 2019 U SPORTS Final 8 national championship. The documentary series, produced by third-year RTA School of Media students Justin Naro and Zack Underhill, is also nominated for an SVG College of Sports Media Award.
The Ryerson Rams broadcast crew received the second of two CHAMP awards, earning Best Webcast Production honours. Spearheaded by students in Ryerson’s RTA: Sport Media program, Rams Live productions have time and time again proven to be among the best in the country. The crew produced a total of 96 broadcasts this year with help from over 130 Ryerson students. The high-quality broadcast footage was used by professional media organizations on several occasions.
This is the third time Ryerson has received the award for Best Webcast, previously earning the distinction in 2017 and 2015.
Additionally, 2019 marks the fifth consecutive year Ryerson has won a CHAMP award.
Best Webcast and Best Feature were two of eight Celebrating and Honouring Achievements in Marketing and Promotions (C.H.A.M.P.) awards handed out on Wednesday evening.
